Welcome to the Online Catfish Report!

Welcome to the ever evolving, seldom updated home of the Ouisconsin and Old Northwest Company.  The ONW is a brotherhood of men that all share a interest in the hobby.  We come from varied backgrounds in the "real world" and portray an even wider array in the period.  Among us you will find retired men, young men, family men, and singles... the defining thing that holds us together is our love in this brotherhood we call the ONW.

ff    The Catfish Report is the periodical of the Ouisconsin and Old Northwest Co. and shares what is going on within the hobby we love, offers insight, recaps trips and rendezvous camps, updates us on members that might be ill, and basically gives us something to look forward to between events.  The written Catfish Report is managed by the presiding Bourgeois.  The Online Catfish was a brain child of yours truly, Mr. Biscuit and is secretly funded by a benefactor who shall remain nameless... Thanks Santa!

YMOS,
Mr. Biscuit

Update #17

Greeting friends and members!     (06-29-2010)

ff    Tonight I received the official electronic copy of the June Catfish from Lady Garrett.   It worked wonderfully!  I will be posting it up here in the members area very soon.  I am delaying it just a little while to allow folks to get their own copies first in the mail... I do not want to steal the thunder of the written word.  But if you do not get it.... check back here in one week and it will surely be posted.

On a personal note, I have not made it to anyone's campfire this year.  The wanderlust this year has curtailed and due to personal reasons and personal obligations I have been forced to stay close to home.... This has ANNOYED me to great lengths.  I missed Bloody Lake, which I almost never do.... and have miss most of the Co. property events... I am a very downtrodden Factor for sure....  Alas, I still love the company of my fellow brothers and do plan to get back into your ranks as soon as I am fit and able... until then... enjoy the spirits, eat some pork fat for me... and I will be back with you soon.....

I have received word that Jeff Haffery has had the surgery to repair the aorta aneurysim in his abdomen  and is now in ICU at Janesville hospital.   He should be transferred to a room in a day or so.

Sad news in that the beloved rescue dog Abby belonging to Sue Minor and Dave Dittmer has passed away early this week. Some friends have made donations in the name of Abby Minor Dittmer to:

South Central Newfoundland  Rescue

Also have heard from the booshway that some brothers only received the cover page to the Catfish Report.   Please contact Tom and he will send the rest of the letter.   Please pass this on.  Em

Update #15

A Call for Prayers and Thoughts for the Company!     (02-26-2010)

ff

Today I have a request as well as news. You can make a big difference in the life of a brother if you would call or write Jeff Haffery. Some of you may know he is not doing well; he had one kidney removed along with a portion of his bladder a couple of years ago and the remaining kidney is only functioning at about 15-20%. He also has a large aneurism, is confined to his apartment because he is tied to his oxygen. I KNOW he would really appreciate hearing from his ONWCo brothers. His address is:

Jeffery Haffery
1912 N. Washington, Apt #7
Janesville, Wi.53545
608-931-0999

Tom Garrett had back surgery yesterday and it went well altho was 7 hours long. He is at Meriter Hosp in Madison, Wi.

Bro. Andy VanSickle had good news in that the polyps removed from his stomach were benign. They were caused by meds he was taking, Drs think the remaing polyps will gradually go away on their own.

Eric Johanen is nearing the end of his radiation treatments and says he is tolerating them fairly well but gets tired. He is looking forward to spending more time at events, visiting with friends, and getting some shooting done!
Please keep these brothers in your thoughts and prayers and pass this info on to those who would be interested.     ~Em

On a side note...
The "Indoor Trade Show" Echoes of the Past is going on this weekend in OshKosh... I have attended this off and on for the past 10 years and it's a great way to meet up with other Company brothers and look around at the trade show goods in a nice dry warm environment.... If you in the neighborhood, stop in and give it a look...  More here

Update #14

Welcome back and news from Em!

ffYes I remembered to update!

Everyone is back from Winter Camp by now; I have heard that it was a great one. Nice prizes, great meal and nice weather.  I have heard from Eric Johanen and he said he is tolerating the radiation treatments and only has 4-5 left to go. Great news!  Tom Garrett will be having back surgery this Thurs. (Feb 25)  Please keep those guys in your thoughts and prayers.  I am nearly 3 weeks post op for hip replacement and am able to get around without my "wheels" and cane, although I do carry it occasionally especially when going up and down stairs.  Hope this finds all in good health and wanting to see all of you come Spring!   ~ Em

Update #13

Maple Syrup Camp is Coming!!!!

ffYes indeedie!

Our good friend and Co. man, Jesse Byrge and the Ledge View Nature Center are once again organizing the Maple Syrup Camp.  This fun lil camp is in the Chilton, WI area and is a fun way to interact with the public.  Scheduled for 26-28th of March, it's a good time... and last year it was more than a little chilly.  Find more information on the camp here or
e-mail Jesse with questions.

Update #12

Monday Updates

ffAs part of my new attempt to keep up... I will try to update this site with anything that I have each Monday.  I do apologize for the lack of updates of late and hope the Co. will not have me walking the plank.

I do have several issues of the Catfish that have been sent my way and I am getting those scanned in now... look for a few of them next week...

Update #11  (Holy Crap!)

Years End

ffOver the course of the year my grand plan of keeping the site updated,  kinda took a hit.  However as the seasons grow colder and I am stuck indoors more, I will attempt to change my ways and get up to date once more.   I pray forgiveness from the crowd for I have not forsaken you brothers yet....

Call for Content!

I reach out to you dear friends, and make a request or two of you.  I am need of several things from our Brethren....

  • I need any and all information on new members to update the Company Roster here online.  Please e-mail me such info.  If your information has changed, Please e-mail me that as well.  I would like to at least keep that current.

  • I need any and all issues of the Catfish, no matter year or issue... I'll take them all.  I have received the gift of a new flat bed scanner and would greatly like to scan all said issues and post them here onsite... a complete record of the Catfish as a documented archive.  Please see my address inside the Roster area for mailing information.  PLEASE NOTE:  My address and info HAS changed!

I have also been approached by a craftsman who makes crafted bags and notions - Kelly Schott with Broken Crow.  I have several images and information about these bags that I will be posting soon in the "Goods & Services" area soon.  I didn't forget you Kelly and thanks for being patient with me....

Until later... thanks... D' Biscuit.
